The UK is the doormat of the world

The wife of a Briton extradited to the United States has broken down in tears while describing his case to MPs.

Chris Tappin, 65, of Orpington, south-east London, was extradited last week over claims he conspired to sell batteries for use in Iranian missiles.

His wife Elaine told the Commons home affairs committee of her dismay that UK courts were not interested in his case. (or rather the UK courts were told by the US government NOT to be interested!)

Attorney General Dominic Grieve QC told MPs issues with the UK-US extradition treaty were "not readily curable". (utter rubbish, just scrap the treaty and tell the US the treaty needs to be re arranged).

It makes one ask, are we really a doormat ready to be walked over by the rest of the world?

We have known terrorists that we carn't deport because of European human rights laws, European courts dictating our laws and now the United States cherry picking suspects as it pleases.

Salt in the wound

It's no surprise that Abu Hamza is wanted by the US courts, however, he has escaped extradition because of the Europian Human Rights Act, apparently extradition would affect Hamza's human rights.

It's now time that our government grew a backbone, we are fast becoming to look like a bullied child and more piss takes are certain to be coming our way if the government doesn't do anything.
